Careers overview

With the introduction of the Private Security Act 2001 and the associated regulation requirements being developed by the Security Industry Authority, the private security industry has witnessed a dramatic turnaround in aspects of career development.

The days when working in security was deemed a dead end career with no foreseeable progression, unless an individual possessed either a police or military background, have long been assigned to the 'scrap heap'. The security operative in today's industry is seen as a professional with an opportunity to develop within the industry and within the management structure.

An array of vocational qualifications scoping across the sector are now available to those ambitious enough to take up the challenge. These range from roles involving basic security operations to the more advanced sectors such close protection and specialist training opportunities within the more discreet sectors of the security industry.

The scope of the security industry is diverse and challenging with opportunities presented across multiple industry sectors.
