With the introduction of the Private Security Act 2001 and the associated regulation requirements being developed by the Security Industry Authority, the private security industry has witnessed a dramatic turn around in aspects of career development.

The days when working in security was deemed a dead end career with no foreseeable progression, unless an individual possessed either a police or military background, have long been assigned to the 'scrap heap'.
